Company OverviewTechColumbus is a membership led, non-profit organization of technology-based companies in the central Ohio region. The leadership is provided by a board of Trustees that is representative of technology businesses in central Ohio. TechColumbus is focused on assisting member companies to develop into high performance organizations and/or provide products and services to such organizations. TechColumbus is financed primarily by member dues, contributions, and program income. TechColumbus is the result of a new partnership to provide the catalyst for technology-based economic development in the next decade in Central Ohio. TechColumbus was formed through the merger of the Columbus Technology Council, recognized as the leading membership organization for tech based businesses in central Ohio, and the Business Technology Center, regarded as one of the country’s best technology business incubators. The Ohio State University’s Science and Technology Campus Corporation (Scitech) is a closely linked partner operating under the TechColumbus umbrella. The Columbus Technology Council was created in late 2002 through formal merger of two (2) organizations, the Industry and Technology Council (ITC) and the Columbus Technology Leadership Council (CTLC). The goal was to create a unified umbrella under which to advance the growth of the Columbus technology sector. TechColumbus' membership has grown to over 225 organizations representing approximately 100,000 employees. Each year, some fifty educational networking programs are offered featuring businesses in a variety of industries as well as presentations on topics relevant to those companies. Additionally the council represents its members on multiple public policy issues focused on creating a more conducive business growth environment. In 2000, the CTC was one of six regional organizations to form Ohio's IT Alliance, the newest Edison Center created by Governor Taft and Administered by the Ohio Dept of Development. This initiative coincides with a number of significant regional developments including the expansion of the Business Technology Center and the realization of Ohio State's Science and Technology Campus to promote technology commercialization and business formation centered around university research. In 2001 the council launched the Reservoir Venture Fund (fka Battelle Technology Fund), an early stage venture capital fund.
